For some time I start to have an allergy to the word ecology and ecological architecture. These words can mean many things, depending on what you need. So I'll try to put my opinion into a more specific framework. What is green architecture? Why is modern architecture abnormal when waste is normal? What is the situation in the Czech Republic for the use of "POTENTIAL SAVINGS?" How is the Czech Republic architecture environmentally friendly?

The contribution is focused on the systems of cool production for air-condition units. The first part of the contribution deals with the now-a-days cooling requirements of buildings. Then, the frequently used cool production systems are described and compared each other. The absorption cooling systems and the vapor cooling systems are compared. The most frequently used applications of the cooling absorption cycles are presented, namely tri-generation systems and district cooling systems.

In relation with the present discussions on the use of solar energy it is useful to mention one important stage of Czech agriculture - the production of really high-quality roughage. Besides the development of methods of silage and haylage, thirty years ago the researchers looked at final drying of forage in large-scale haylofts using air solar collectors.

The paper deals with identifying suitable areas of use of small cogeneration units fossil fuels and renewable energy sources in municipal and industrial uses. Discusses the advantages and disadvantages of cogeneration units based on internal combustion engines, gas turbines and steam engines, including their position in the electricity grid

The service life of photovoltaic panels is currently estimated at least 30 years. However, in the ideal case, it can be doubled up. Panels are recognised as a source of valuable raw materials too. Even though solar panels do not fall under the scope of European directives on waste management, manufacturers and suppliers have created a voluntary program of PV Cycle.

Projects of the International Energy Agency show that use energy more efficiently has a greater potential to reduce CO2 over the next 20 years than all other options combined. The main objectives of intelligent networks are improving the efficiency, reliability, safety and environmental sustainability.

Article gives an overview of support for electricity generation from biogas in the European countries and a comparison of purchase prices in selected countries. Purchase prices in the Czech Republic are comparable with other European countries. After the abolition of capital grants, a significant reduction of the interest of investors can be expected.

The Government draft of Act on the Supported Sources have to replace the existing Act No. 180/2005 Coll. on the Promotion of Renewable Sources. At the same time it have to apply to the Czech legislation requirements of the Directive 2009/28/EC on the promotion of renewable energy sources. Professional association representing all RES joined together to prepare amendments to the draft.

Nowadays there is a growing interest in quality and high energy saving housing. The following article presents the almost unusual renovation of a terraced building in Denmark. It was expected that after the renovation the building with become CO2 neutral. The last house of a terrace in the twon of Albertslund, Denmakr was chosen for the renovation. It had been built in the 1960's and it is a two story terraced house with a 50m2 footprint.

Much has been written about this Moravian Village at the foot of the White Carpathian Mountains. It is renown for its environmental projects, it has been visited by many prominent personalities and it is considered an example of energy saving and environmental construction. This time, we have focused on a passive house that works as a model of environmental projects in rural areas.

Our serial continues with this low-energy house built with sand-lime bricks. This time, the family house is located not far from Liberec, in the foothills of the Jizera mountains. The surroundings, predominantly rural houses near a protected natural area, influenced the shape of the house. Its location responds primarily to the surrounding buildings and the slightly sloping land.

The European Solar Days successfully promote the use of a free unlimited renewable energy source available everywhere to everyone to generate electricity as well as heating and cooling: the SUN.
This campaign raises public awareness and involves several hundred thousand citizens at local level. Pioneer countries such as Austria, Germany, Switzerland, as well as others that successfully embraced this initiative like France, Italy and Spain, are only too keen to share their experience and help spread the word. The European Solar Days are celebrated in an increasing number of countries and in 2010 around 6.600 events were planned in 17 European countries by diverse organisations ranging from solar equipment manufacturers to schools and local authorities.

European and national policy and trends promoting the development and use of renewable energy recently caused a boom for solar systems for DHW and heating in family houses in this country. Whether it makes sense, what are the problems for such systems since we can expect and how to optimize these systems, this post.

Coloured photovoltaic cells are occasionally used in architectural applications. Their wider utilisation is currently limited by the lower efficiency compared to cells with an optimal anti-reflective coating. Research is focused on desing and manufacturing of anti-reflective coating, which besides of required color will have minimised the reflection in the infrared.
